Chill Out

The next couple of days are going to be extremely hot in Boston. Swelteringly hot. Too hot to cook!

I decided to try a recipe for a cold fruit soup. I found this fun Mix and Match Melon Recipe from Martha Stewart. It looks refreshing, fairly healthy (with the yogurt) and I think the kids will like it.

Recipe (from Mix and Match Melon Soup, Martha Stewart)....

1/2 large honeydew, cut into chunks
2 t. fresh lime juice
1/4 c. sparkling wine or ginger ale (they recommend Moscato d'Asti)
1/4 c fresh mint leaves
1/2 t salt
1 cantaloupe, cut into chunks
1/3 c. creme fraiche or plain yogurt
2 T honey
1 t fresh lemon juice

Put honeydew, lime, sparkling wine, mint and 1/4 t salt in food processor and blend until smooth. Chill.

Next batch! Put cantaloupe, yogurt, honey, lemon juice and 1/4 t salt in food processor and blend until smooth. Chill.

To serve...put honeydew soup in a bowl, and spoon some of the cantaloupe soup on top, and vice versa. I would garnish with pretty edible flowers, too.

Can't wait to try this....yum!

Stay cool,

Too hot to do much of anything. Even up here. There's no sea breeze even!

Hmmm, sounds interesting. It surely is hot here! :)

Hi Steph! Are you near the ocean? At least the cold water would feel good....but I bet the beaches are crazy packed.

Amber--I know. Ugh. My poor little A/C units are chugging away.

Would it be wrong to want to wear the soup while eating it? It sounds yummy. I may crack and put the air conditioned in my bedroom today. It's kind of hard to work at the day job when the room is so hot!

It's relatively cool today here, although everything around us is on fire, so I'm going to be happy if it looks like rain.

Julia....the soup was delish. Hubs loved it. Son said "It's okay." Daughter made gagging noises and refused to touch it. The little $&%^$&#^@!!!!!!

Hi Nancy! I am springing for central A/C next summer. This summer....we still have little ones in each room. But it's working fairly well.

Stay cool in the Burgh!
