About This Blog

Penelope's Romance Reviews is an"old-skool" book blog. There are no ads, no sponsors, no paid promotional spots.

I buy the books I read. And sometimes I complain about the prices. I don't subscribe to NetGalley. I rarely read ARCs, and when I do, I always purchase the book later. Because the #1 way to support authors is to buy their freakin' books.

I read and review romance novels, mysteries, films, music videos, and anything else that strikes my fancy. I discuss a wide range of topics, from dachshund discrimination at Westminster to mango martini recipes.

I'm just a reader giving my opinion on books. I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just loud.

I'm an easy grader. If I like a book, it gets a 4 or 5 star rating. If I don't love it, it gets a 3 star rating. And if it's a disaster of epic proportions, or an old favorite author writes an enormous piece o' crap, I'll give it 1-2 stars. Which rarely happens. In the matter of full disclosure...if a friend asks me to review a book, and I don't like it, I don't post a review. Friendships are more important than posting. On the flip side, if I say I liked a book, then I liked it.

1. I include spoilers.
2. I cuss a lot.
3. I have a beard fetish.

If you're irritated by cute puppy pictures, hairy guys, plants, 1980s music, romance novels, or alcoholic beverages, you might want to stay clear of this blog.

***The complete list of book titles and links to the reviews are on my side bar. I have two lists...BOOK REVIEWS BY PENELOPE and MORE BOOK REVIEWS.

I am super excited that I now have a motley crew of reviewers! Woo hoo! Joining me at PRR are...

Stephanie Kay

Now reviewing all types of books, with a special interest in romantic comedy and historical romance.

Stephanie Estes Saccoccio has been reading romance since she was fourteen, when she convinced her mystery-reading mother that the only “good” books had bodice-ripper covers (code for SEX).

Since then, she’s devoured approximately four thousand romance novels and is concerned she might have a problem. Stephanie’s Kindle is her most prized possession. All those books on one device in her purse make her feel like Mary Poppins!

She will read anything as long as it has a happy ending. Stephanie especially loves Regency historicals, which is how she persuaded her husband to get married over the anvil in Gretna Green (for research purposes only).

Stephanie writes romantic comedy as Stephanie Kay since no one can spell her married or maiden name.

Nico Jaye

Loves romance, with a special interest in M/M stories.

Nico Jaye is an enthusiast for all things HEA. She began reading romance in high school and hasn't looked back since. One day, after reading romance for many years, she decided to try her hand at writing it, too. She now reads and writes in the m/m romance world, where she's discovered that she definitely finds two boys kissing to be way more fun than one.

In her free time, she's lawyered a little and traveled a lot.  Between random trips to places like Iceland and Fiji, Nico enjoys feline antics, inspirational sports movies, and general craftiness of the yarn-and-papier-mâché variety. She should not be allowed into a Jo-Ann or Michael's store without adult supervision.

Nico can be found poking around online at www.nicojaye.com or on Twitter @nicojaye. Her stories have been likened to candy and Harlequins, and she's actually quite proud of that fact. Happy reading!

Penny Reid

Reads everything; is our special "indie correspondent."

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-okay with me. No judgment. Like most writers I like to write, but let's get back to sex.

I read my first romance novel over the summer of 2012 after I decided to write my first book, Neanderthal Seeks Human, on a bet. I'm very, very new to the genre and will therefore read anything and everything. Mostly, I enjoy good books (so, not crap books).

By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning when I'm not writing, I enjoy reading about people having (or almost having) the sex.

You can find me here: http://reidromance.blogspot.com/ when I'm not corresponding for Penny Watson.
