Penelope's Romance Reviews is an"old-skool" book blog. There are no ads, no sponsors, no paid promotional spots.

I buy the books I read. And sometimes I complain about the prices. I don't subscribe to NetGalley. I rarely read ARCs, and when I do, I always purchase the book later. Because the #1 way to support authors is to buy their freakin' books.

I read and review romance novels, mysteries, films, music videos, and anything else that strikes my fancy. I discuss a wide range of topics, from dachshund discrimination at Westminster to mango martini recipes.

I'm just a reader giving my opinion on books. I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just loud.

Recurring posts include Beard of the Day (on Friday), if I find an especially inspirational beardy dude. I often post 1980s music vids on Saturdays. And Sundays will now host The Martini Club (an excuse to post cocktail recipes).

I'm an easy grader. If I like a book, it gets a 4 or 5 star rating. If I don't love it, it gets a 3 star rating. And if it's a disaster of epic proportions, or an old favorite author writes an enormous piece o' crap, I'll give it 1-2 stars. Which rarely happens. In the matter of full disclosure....if a friend asks me to review a book, and I don't like it, I don't post a review. Friendships are more important than posting. On the flip side, if I say I liked a book, then I liked it.
