My mom and I just got back from an awesome girl's weekend in Newport...our favorite activity was touring Marble House, one of the gorgeous mansions on Bellevue Avenue. This "summer cottage" originally belonged to William and Alva Vanderbilt. It is truly stunning. If you ever get the chance to see it, don't miss it! The history of Newport is fascinating, and the love affairs, divorces and angsty family relationships in all of these upper crust families are better than a romance novel!
Here's a photo of the Chinese Tea House, perched just above Cliff Walk...so cool!
Happy Summer Travels,
Penelope

Thanks for sharing the photos Penelope! Wow the Marble House is beautiful! So impressive and majestic! I love visiting palaces and mansions, it is always interesting to see how the people must live in one :-)
Yes of course, what a cute little summer cottage, I would barely have room for my luggage ;)..pretty my flat would fit in one bathroom
Amazing! I'm glad you had fun. Just got home last night from a ranch in Montana. Love to travel!

Hi Blodeuedd...yeah, not exactly what I would call a "summer cottage"...hee hee hee! Everything was covered with gold, too!
