Quickie Sunday Update

1) My morning glories (which I planted way too late) are finally flowering. A nice way to start the morning.

2) I lost 14 pounds since my heart attack. Nothing jump starts your diet like a near-death experience.

3) My "little old lady" walks have graduated from a 90 year old's pace to a 75 year old's pace. By next week, I should be able to outwalk a 65 year old, no problem.

4) I am reading Married by Morning by Lisa Kleypas and really enjoying it. My new "rule" is to only read at night before bedtime. No more sedentary lifestyle for me, which precludes hours of romance novel-reading during daylight hours. I also read Tempt Me At Twilight while I was recovering in the hospital, and I thought it was wonderful. Lisa Kleypas was the perfect post-heart attack read. Her books are romantic, inspiring and filled with hope.

Hard to believe the summer is winding down. I hope all of you will enjoy the last rays of sunshine before school starts.
Happy Reading To All,

You've sure been through a lot! Sending you good thoughts and hope you'll be speeding past 50 year olds very soon :-)

You're on your way to recovery! I'm glad to hear you're up and about, take it slowly, it will come along. Losing 14 lbs - hey, it's better than a kick in the shins! Reading LK is the perfect R&R. I recently read Tempt Me at Twilight, I wasn't as enamoured of it as you - but hey, it's LK! I have the next one coming up, I hope I like it better.

Thanks for the update on you're doing!

Soon you'll be walking like a 40 year old! Reading and writing - inactivity is an occupational hazard! I'm glad you're feeling better and your morning glories look lovely.
14 pounds is mega-impressive!

Hi Mary...thanks for the good wishes!

Julie...Is Beatrix's book out? The last daughter? Not sure, but if it is I'll be reading it next.

Hi Julia...yep, gotta reduce my hours in front of the more 10 hour days writing a novel. Just a couple hours here and there. Good thing I write pretty fast!

Yes, it's out, it's called Love in the Afternoon and it is Beatrix's story. I still have to read Catherine's first, but I have both.

Such lovely flowers! And that's so great you lost 14 lbs. I'm glad you're on the mend. Also, someone just told my husband, who has high cholesterol, that oatmeal is the only grain proven to go and literally clean out your arteries. So guess what we've been having for breakfast every morning!

Feel better soon.
